Beautiful version of O CAROLANS si bheag si mhor by planxty .
I’ve always loved the sentiment of “both man and master in the night are one …” 👍 The genius lyric of Bill Caddick.
Followed by ‘All things are equal when the day is done’. Christy changed it in a subsequent solo recording to ‘Some things are equal when the day is done’, which I didn’t like so much. His first solo recording of it is beautiful.
Does anyone know which recording this was taken from?
Amazing Wonderfull blessed godly super Nice ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Tá an t-amhrán chomh glan agus fíor…
I found traditionalIirish music by following a breadcrumb left by U2 back in my early teens and where I left U2 behind as I aged, traditional Irish music is a continuing force in my life into middle age.
So good 👍❤️😊
Christy sings straight from the heart
Pure magic
The Si were mounds, entrances to the Otherworld inhabited by the Tuatha De Dannan, the pre-Christian Irish gods. Why the video had all that Christian imagery is beyond me.
I try to learn it my mam loves it Imean loves it I'm only 5
Pierre introduced me to this song.... and I remain eternally grateful...lovely in dadgad tuning...
I came to this video because at Mass yesterday, we sang a song that is loosely based on this tune. Drove me crazy because I know the proper tune, but didn't know its name. So happy to find it here, many thanks!
What song did you sing?
@@Adam-hi4mg the name of the song is "With Tend'rest Love". Loosely based on this 🎶
Thank you@@coraggio93
Immense, searing, fragile, few can combine harmonics and a deftness of touch like Planxty
This is the craic. What a jam. Planxty are a fantastic band.
I'd like to visit Ireland, but I am 74 years old and not so nimble as I used to be. Can I get taxis in cities and towns? Can I get transportation across the country, like from one town to another not too far away? Are there plenty of hotels in the summer?
You can do it! I’m an American living in Ireland and I assure you that with the helpful locals and good tourist infrastructure you could have a great time.
@@MrSharky334 I'm tired of the insane USA and long to relocate. Hope I win the lottery!!
Well, my wife and I did visit Ireland, from June 24 to July 11. We flew to Dublin. After several days in Dublin we got as rental car and drove in a loop -- Kilkenny Cork Killarney Dingle Galway Connemara National Park, back to Brú na Bóinne Complex and Dublin. That was very fun and interesting. Two weeks wasn't long enough. Too much to see. We took cabs in Dublin and Galway - no problem. The people of Ireland are so nice and fun. Any American who wants to drive in Ireland needs to be a very skilled driver. Every day was an excellent experience.
Great song!
Love Planxty
Magnificent ⚘🍀💖🍀🌷🍀💖⚘💕
I've been looking for this song for 20 years!
Does anybody know if Uilleann pipes allow you to change drone note during the performance?
This might help answer your question: ua-cam.com/video/OAtEnKBvmbM/v-deo.html

No one can touch them
This song is like an old friend coming back to me after a long time of years. I am a proud owner of this album.
This music makes me think of Braveheart
Les Barker did a parody of the song about Custard Creams mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=53109
Still love it!
Beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. Lovely.

Your description is not accurate. But nice tune.
Such a special, unique culture on an island all to itself. This island produced art like this, and this island will continue its legacy. We must never let it die. Éire Abú
Just allow the music and vocals to flow over you , it’s wonderful , regardless of whoever came from wherever . Its a marvellous collaboration.
Dear Liam
And if this tune doesn't move you at least in the slightest, you have no soul to speak of.
良い曲だな
Great music and photography
I was raised with a healthy respect for my Irish heritage, music, dance, history, etc. and this was always one of my favorite songs growing up, but you don't even have to be Irish to understand the beauty. Hell, I knew a guy from Africa years ago who loved Irish folk songs
One of the greatest ever video game music composers called Nobuo Uematsu from Japan is heavily influenced by traditional Irish music. You can hear it as well in the Final Fantasy games for example.
We must all remember to exclude religion from fighting for Ireland’s freedom! Catholic and Protestant both died for Ireland’s freedom!
@@Hollcall they didn't die for religion. But for nation😏
The Irish Constitution guarantees freedom of religion.
@@ryleytolman5294 troll.
@Cathal Ó Braonáin you were good on the Irish, but wrong about the Jews.
@@ryleytolman5294 True. We came from our Hebrew friends.
The great Christy Moore.
Just found this video. It's a bit faster than I'm used to hearing it, but it's so gorgeous played on the pipes like that!
Wonderful--was that Liam on the Uileann Pipes---RIP to the Legend on the pipes !
Great tune
Amazing
